external disk not automatically show on disks and devices popup (KDE)
by marozsas from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5MPQ8)
So, I have a few external disks protected by LUKS.
They usually show up on the KDE notification popup when attached to the system through a disk bay.
When they show on that popup there is an button to mount the disk using the pass-phrase saved on kwallet. Nice.
But there is one disk that not show up on the notification panel when connected.
However it shows the usual message on journalctl, the disk id showed on lsblk match the disk id on kwallet.
If, as root, I manually enter the command "cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/sdh1 ExternalData" and type the proper pass-phrase THEN the notification popup shows the external disk with the option to mount it.
My disk bay has 2 slots. If I insert 2 disks at once (the ExternalData above and another one that usually shows on notification panel) NONE of then are showed in notification panel to mount !
Why this disk behaves differently from others ?
Why it is not showed in KDE notification popup as soon it is powered, as the others do ?
For me, looks like a KDE bug since the disk is fine. On jornalctl there is no message to help me to find anything that could give me a direction to look at. I powered the system down, just in case, but KDE still ignores this disk when inserted.
I know it is a long shot, but anyone knows how to debug such kind of event (or lack of it) on kde ? I supposed it is something related to qdbus-qt5, I guess...
My System: opensuse tumbleweed, kernel 5.13.2-1; KDE 5.22.
