Doubts on updating of Slackware-curent
by fredmyra from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5MQXH)
I installed Slackware current (64) with DAW base and a few programs for music production, about a month ago.
I am now reading about updating. I have read all the articles I coud search on "Slackware current update" and "Slackware update 3rd party", and I think I understand most of them.
I understand that nowadays (many of those articles are quite old) I can do the updating through slackpkg+, maybe with some care after reading the recommended ReadMe and Hints.
One question puzzling me is whether it does make any sense to talk of updating in terms of "binary vs build", and if so at which point is it decided which way the process of updating will follow. This question came up when I first wondered if I must make a choice about this at any point. I have no understanding at all of this matter.
