Cannon MF624Cw printer help
by wirelessmc from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5MWKB)
I downloaded the driver on Cannon's website for this Multi-function (wireless) printer, unpacked it and converted all the *.rpm packages with rpm2txz on my x86_64 -current OS. Below are the newly converted packages that include 1 x86_64 cups driver file and 12 PPD files per their installation instructions. I also installed the driver for this printer on Windows 10 to make sure it works. It does so I am pretty sure I should be able to get it working on Slackware 15.
The printer is clearly visible on the cups browser portinterface after installing below driver.
The installer wants to set protocol socket://192.168.1.65
for the communication port. I've tried other protocols like ipp and lpd but no luck yet. Windows uses "RAW" and port 9100 (I think 9100 is the default for socket protocol). When I send a test page from cups it tells me the following but no output from printer:

"src = libcanon_pdlwrapper.c, line = 514, err = 0nINFO: Processing page 2..."
1) Has anyone got this (or a similar Cannon) printer working on Slackware?
2) Any other suggestions of things to try for debugging?
I am thinking I might try this on one of the known working Linux OS'es like Ubuntu. It's a great printer that was given to me and my old Brother needs repair so I really want to get this working.
Thanks!
