Indianapolis Colts guard Quenton Nelson will undergo foot surgery and miss 5-to-12 weeks, head coach Frank Reich announced Tuesday.

The All-Pro will have the same procedure as quarterback Carson Wentz, who's also facing a similar recovery timeline.

Nelson was injured during Monday's practice and will have surgery Tuesday.

Reich said Nelson's injury is essentially the same as Wentz's, according to Mike Chappell of Fox 59.

Nelson has never missed a start since being taken sixth overall in the 2018 NFL Draft.

The 25-year-old quickly established himself as one of the league's premier guards and the cornerstone of Indianapolis' stellar offensive line, receiving first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors in all three of his seasons.

The Colts are already dealing with injury issues on the offensive line. Left tackle Eric Fisher is on the physically unable to perform list and is expected to miss the start of the season, while Pro Bowl center Ryan Kelly is sidelined with an elbow ailment suffered early in training camp.

The AFC South club is expected to start sophomore Jacob Eason if Wentz is forced to miss regular-season games.
