'God is my matchmaker': Winner of $65M jackpot is York Region's most eligible bachelor
On July 15, Jansen Ng, 41, of East Gwillimbury found out he was the winner of the massive $65-million OLG Lotto Max prize.
He's also now arguably York Region's most eligible bachelor, and looking for the right woman to one day call his wife.
Ng is a man of Christian faith, unbreakable and strong, much like what he looks for in his future relationship.
He believes this is God's money he has been entrusted to take care of, and do good things with in the world, such as helping certain charities.
He said he purchased his ticket with quick-pick numbers, no Encore, less than 90 seconds before the deadline.
His ticket won, making him the first big winner to purchase a ticket at Ultramar Express Mart in East Gwillimbury.
Despite his life-changing win, Ng said he won't let it change his giving, kind, and faithful nature. These are important values he aims to find in his life partner one day.
"My friend joked he would nominate me as Toronto's most eligible bachelor," Ng said.
Years ago, Ng and his friends filled out an online quiz which would then generate their perfect match based on the responses. Ng's results came up with a "Dutch pediatrician," and it has became a running joke among them that he would find a Dutch woman.
"It would be so funny if it happens," Ng said.
Ng said he is looking for a partner who is intelligent, with goals and determination.
"I am looking for someone younger than me, mostly because I want to have a bunch of kids," Ng said, adding that he wants to share similar Christian and moral values.
"Some people think it's going Hollywood dating someone 10 years younger, but no, realistically if you want to have a hockey team," Ng said.
"Ultimately, God is my matchmaker," Ng said.
We all have an idea of what we want, but sometimes what we need in a relationship is very different."
Ng described himself and what he's like in a relationship, and it turns out he's also wealthy in character and charm.
"In a relationship, I'm very giving. I'm very long term, intentional kind of thinking," Ng said.
He has invested in learning life skills, such as massage and cooking lessons so that he can spoil his future partner. "It's a nice thing to do for my (future) wife when she gets home from work."
Work? Will the wife of a multimillionaire - 65 times to be exact - need to work?
Well, according to Ng, that will be entirely up to her.
"I am open to anything; I'm more the happy medium," he said.
He said he has been contacted by married women, but is not interested.
"There was a woman I asked out years ago ... at the time she wasn't interested. Now she's trying to message me, but she's married.
"I'm like 'no, what are you doing?'," Ng said.
He aims to fall in love with someone's true version of themselves.
"I think most people are going into a relationship for what the other person can give them ... I go into it thinking how we can enrich each other," Ng said.
"I'm not going for the Hollywood infatuation fantasy. Real relationships take work, communication, and trust," Ng said.
He is adamant he won't let the money change him: I'm still going to be the guy who gives blood every two months and cuts his own hair."
