Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington submitted a trade request, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Washington reportedly wants out of Pittsburgh due to his lack of playing time last season and in Thursday's Hall of Fame game.

The 2018 second-round pick produced a solid sophomore campaign in 2019, racking up 44 catches for 735 yards and three touchdowns.

But Washington's role with the Steelers was reduced following the arrival of then-rookie Chase Claypool last year.

Washington acted as the team's No. 4 receiver behind Claypool, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Diontae Johnson for much of the campaign and finished the season with just 392 yards.

Washington, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract, played 27 snaps and failed to record a catch in Thursday's 16-3 preseason victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
