Police have arrested a suspect less than 24 hours after a bomb threat was made against Hamilton City Hall.

The suspect is facing charges of mischief and uttering death threats, police say.

No other details have been released about the suspect.

Hamilton police Staff Sgt. Dave Kitchen said more details would be released if they are available. Police said a person called in the threat to city hall just after 11:30 a.m. Friday.

The building was evacuated and roads in the area were blocked off as police investigated the threat.

Officers completed a search without finding anything suspicious in the building," spokesperson Jackie Penman said.

Police cleared city hall and opened surrounding streets late Friday afternoon.

Just after 3:30 a.m. Saturday, police posted a release saying they had charged a suspect.
