Weird pattern on monitor after restarting Linux Mint 20.2 Mate soon after installation
by grumpyskeptic from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5N2R0)
I have installed Linux Mint Mate 20.2 64 bit a few minutes ago on an old computer. The old computer is a Dell Inspiron - don't at the moment know what specific model it is. The old monitor - don't know at the moment what model it is.
The problem is that after restarting it, as requested after installing updates, everything was behaving normally but then suddenly the screen was covered by small white grey and black dashes, in a somewhat diagonal pattern, and nothing else was visible. After a forced shutdown using the computer button, it has restarted OK, and I am using it to write this.
Does anyone know what it was and is it likely to occur again?
Thanks.
