Four loaded guns, 1 kilogram fentanyl seized during Hamilton police project
Hamilton police say four loaded guns and about $250,000 worth of drugs were seized during a recent project targeting gun and drug activity in the region.
In total, six people were arrested and face a combined 48 charges in the investigation dubbed Project Purple Rain, police said.
Niagara and Peel regional police services were also involved in the searches.
Hamilton police would not release details about who was charged, the specific charges they face or when and where four search warrants were executed because they said the investigation is ongoing.
Police seized a loaded gun, including three handguns, at each location searched. Officers also found more than $20,000 in cash and more than 150 rounds of ammunition.
The drugs seized include: 1 kilogram of fentanyl, with a street value of about $220,000; 10 ounces of cocaine, with a street value of about $16,000; and 16 grams of crystal meth, with a street value of about $1,600.
