The Jacksonville Jaguars agreed to trade linebacker Joe Schobert to the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Pittsburgh will send a sixth-round pick to Jacksonville in exchange for the veteran defender, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Schobert confirmed a trade between the two teams is in the works.

"Great place to play behind that D line," Schobert said of Pittsburgh, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

The 27-year-old joined the Jaguars as a free agent last offseason on a five-year, $53.75-million deal after spending his first four NFL campaigns with the Cleveland Browns.

Here's what new Steelers LB Joe Schobert is due on his current deal:
2021: $7M (guaranteed)
2022: $8.75M
2023: $10.25M
2024: $10.75M

He has $500K per year due via roster/workout bonuses as well. Would make sense if Jacksonville agreed to pay some of his salary this year.

The 2016 fourth-round pick earned a Pro Bowl nod in 2017 after topping the league with 144 tackles. He racked up 141 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and three interceptions through 16 appearances with Jacksonville last season.

Schobert will offer Pittsburgh a quality starter after longtime inside linebacker Vince Williams retired this offseason. The Steelers have Devin Bush returning from a torn ACL in 2021, and their linebacker depth chart also features Robert Spillane.
