PCLinuxOS boot
by crajor from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5NBBC)
I have to go through 3 or 4 turning off and back on of the PC to see a boot complete. In the instances when I turn off, I am facing a blank screen and no activity whatsoever. In earlier versions of the kernel, there was an underscore cursor that just stopped blinking. That was the indicator for me to turn off and try again to turn on and attempt to boot. Once I see the kernel splash screen I know I'm ok, boot is then normal and PC functioning is just fine.
I have a dual boot setup and my Win8.1 side shows none of this behavior.
Specs;
Dell Latitude 1545
pentium dual core t4400
4 GB RAM
All controller/hardware on this laptop is Intel - graphics(series 4 express family chipset), USB, sound, SCSI, all PCI bridges. However, ethernet is Marvel tech and wireless is Broadcom 4312 LP-PHY, and DVD +-RW is Matshita.
I have tried to provide all of the info I could think of as needed. I have lived with this for a while now and could continue to do so, but solving this would be nice.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help.
