Recording application audio on Arch Linux

I'm trying to use OBS on Arch Linux, but I can't get it to record audio from any applications. It will record audio from my microphone just fine, but not applications. The "desktop audio" mixer in OBS does not show any activity no matter which device I try to select in the settings.
I found some guides that instruct you to determine the recording device by opening pavucontrol and picking the output device that shows activity when an application is playing audio, but none of my devices show any activity when an application is playing audio.
Through some troubleshooting, I discovered other applications such as audacity will also not record application audio, so this seems to be a pulseaudio problem. Is there perhaps a pulseaudio module I require to record application audio?
