Chicago Bears quarterback Andy Dalton was booed as he took the field on Saturday for the team's second preseason game.

Dalton did little to silence his detractors, beginning the contest with back-to-back three-and-outs. He completed 11 of 17 pass attempts for 146 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the first half.

Despite the veteran's struggles, head coach Matt Nagy is sticking with Dalton as the starting signal-caller.

"We need to see him in the regular season," Nagy said, according to Kevin Patra of NFL.com.

Dalton signed a one-year, $10-million contract with the Bears this offseason. He spent last year with the Dallas Cowboys after playing his first nine campaigns with the Cincinnati Bengals.

The veteran went 4-5 as a starter for the Cowboys, throwing for 2,170 yards and 14 touchdowns to go with eight interceptions.

Chicago traded up in the 2021 NFL Draft to select Justin Fields with the 11th overall pick.

Fields, who played most of the second half on Saturday, went 9-for-19 for 80 yards, and he added 46 rushing yards. The Ohio State product has quickly become a fan favorite in the preseason.
