Hamilton under thunderstorm watch as heat wave continues
In a week that's seen the heat reach summertime highs, some relief may be on the horizon.
Environment Canada issued a thunderstorm watch for Hamilton around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, warning of potential strong wind gusts and torrential rain.
Hopefully, that precipitation eases the humidity that's in the air as the city is also under a heat warning.
The city will see a high of 32 C, that's 41 C with the humidex, and a nighttime low of 20 C.
The thunderstorm is expected to hit between this afternoon and early evening, according to the weather service. Localized flooding may occur in areas of poor drainage, as rainfall exceeding 50 mm is anticipated.
Friday, the heat will ease to 27 C and 35 C with the humidex.
