[SOLVED] Latest updates for linux mint alyssa issues

Twice I downloaded the latest updates in Update Manager and twice I had to use Timeshift to restore to an earlier time. Today there were about a dozen updates and upon restart though I had a wifi connection my email program and Thunderbird could not connect with the server. I have no idea which one of the updates could be causing the issue but one update was a Linux driver update.

Anyone experience with the latest updates?
