Giants' Engram suffers calf injury in preseason finale

The New York Giants ruled out tight end Evan Engram after he exited the team's preseason finale early Sunday due to a calf injury.

Engram limped to the locker room in the second quarter after talking to trainers. He caught three passes for 22 yards before departing.

The 26-year-old dealt with a calf issue late last season, though Engram played the week he was listed as questionable. He's entering a pivotal fifth season with the Giants and looking to prove he can stay healthy and produce over a full campaign before hitting free agency.

Engram posted 654 yards and one touchdown last year. He made his first career Pro Bowl despite producing what many considered an underwhelming season.

The Giants will open their campaign Sept. 12 versus the Denver Broncos.
