lilo, elilo, grub, refind, etc, etc
by FTIO from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5NYDR)
Hiya gang,
Sorry to bring this up again, but I guess I've just gotten too old or something is just not clicking in the brain anymore enough that I just can't seem to wrap my head around being able to do the whole kernel upgrade thing and the initd along with it. I've read and read and read and had plenty of you guys try to show me how to do it, but every time I try something somewhere somehow got messed up and I end up with a system that won't boot and I have to reinstall the 'current' to use it again. (I only brought up 'rEFInd' in the title because I have seen it mentioned some and have even less of an idea how to use such a thing, grub also but I've never cared for grub, lol)
So...I just need a little info about trying to use lilo, as I have done for the past 10+ years using Slackware, only I need to know some things:
1) Will lilo work with nvme drives?
2) My current setup (using elilo during the installation) is this -
nvme0n1 = p1-1GB efi boot | p2-64GB swap | p3-400GB root
nvme1n1 = p1- 460GB /home
2TB HDD = sda1-466GB /cams | sda2- 750GB /storage | sda3-1.5TB /music
Will lilo be able to do this same setup as I currently have above? I know I'll have to set some things in the BIOS again to be able to use the older setup, I just want to make sure I'll be able to do so with the nvme drives in this system.
Thanks again for putting up with my mess of a brain and loopy questions.
