The Baltimore Ravens are not expected to pursue free-agent running back Todd Gurley, according to NFL reporter Josina Anderson.

Baltimore lost starting tailback J.K. Dobbins for the year after he sustained a torn ACL in the team's final preseason game against the Washington Football team on Saturday.

Gurley, 27, remains unsigned after tallying 678 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging 3.5 yards per carry with the Atlanta Falcons in 2020. He added 25 receptions for 164 yards.

Atlanta did not re-sign Gurley after inking him to a one-year, $5.5-million contract the previous year. He reportedly visited the Ravens' facility earlier this summer for a workout.

The three-time Pro Bowler was a first-round selection of the Los Angeles Rams in 2015. He went on to be named Offensive Rookie of the Year (2015) and Offensive Player of the Year (2017) during his five seasons with the Rams.

Despite losing Dobbins, a promising star in the backfield, the Ravens "like their depth at the running back position," Anderson adds.

The Ravens will likely elevate Gus Edwards, who signed a two-year, $9-million extension this offseason, to the feature role. Justice Hill is likely in line to receive more carries to begin the season.
