Senior dies after falling into sump pump pit at Lowbanks cottage

Haldimand OPP say foul play is not suspected in the sudden death of a senior in Lowbanks Friday afternoon.
In a release Monday, police said emergency services were called to an address in Lowbanks just before 2:20 p.m. Friday for reports of an unresponsive person."
Police said a 75-year-old person had fallen into a sump pump pit at a family cottage.
Crews with the Lowbanks Fire Department removed the person from the pit and performed CPR until Haldimand County paramedics arrived on scene but they were pronounced dead.
Police said an autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death but foul play is not suspected.
