Mount Hope fried chicken sandwich shop the Pigeon closes permanently

A popular catering and take-away restaurant in the heart of Mount Hope has permanently turned off its deep frier after three years.
Co-owners chef Matt Beasley and Jenny Ngu opened the Pigeon at 3200 Homestead Dr. in July 2018. Beasley had been working in kitchens in Hamilton, Niagara, Toronto and beyond for two decades before deciding to open the fried chicken sandwich shop.
Just three months after opening, Ngu told Torstar that it was amazing" how quickly they had been embraced as part of the community."
In a post to the Pigeon's website and social media accounts Tuesday, Beasley and Ngu reflected on the restaurant's closure with heavy hearts."
We want to focus on the well-being of our family and closing the business had to be our first step."
A successful" restaurant and its equipment - but no trade names" - are listed for sale at 3200 Homestead Dr. for $60,000.
