The Indianapolis Colts will place T.Y. Hilton on injured reserve after the wideout underwent surgery to alleviate pain from a neck injury, Colts general manager Chris Ballard said Wednesday, according to Zak Keefer of The Athletic.

Hilton will miss at minimum the first three weeks of the regular season, Ballard said.

"Surgery went well," Ballard added, per Jim Ayello of the Indianapolis Star.

The GM expects the veteran pass-catcher back "sooner than later." He said the procedure was "not major" but was necessary to provide Hilton some relief, according to Stephen Holder of The Athletic.

The 31-year-old deep threat signed a one-year, $8-million deal to stay with the Colts this March. He's spent his entire nine-year career in Indianapolis since being selected in the third round of the 2012 draft.

After topping 1,000 yards in five of his first seven seasons, Hilton put up 501 yards in 2019 and 762 yards in 2020, scoring five touchdowns in each campaign.
