A look at what’s open and closed on Labour Day

In Hamilton, Labour Day means classic Ticats and Argos, a day off and a parade.

Monday is also the end of summer vacation and start of a new year.

Here's a guide to what's open and what's closed on the statutory holiday.

Grocery and retail stores

Grocery stores and malls will be closed.

All LCBO stores are closed.

Select beer stores are open Monday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Hamilton Farmers Market

Hamilton Farmers Market is closed Sunday and Monday.

RBG

The Royal Botanical Gardens trails and gardens are open.

CWHM

Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum is open on Monday.

Museums

Hamilton Civic Museums are closed Monday. Note that Dundurn National Historic Site will also be closed for public tours Sept. 7 to 10.

In Burlington, Joseph Brant Museum is closed Mondays and Ireland House Museum remains closed for general public admission while COVID-19 measures are in place.

City hall

All City of Hamilton and Burlington administrative offices will be closed Monday.

Garbage, green cart and recycling collection will be picked up one day later in Hamilton and Halton. There are no changes to pickup in Niagara.

Community recycling centres and transfer stations will be closed on Monday.

Recreation

Hamilton indoor pools and recreation facilities and Sackville Seniors Centre are closed on Monday. Most outdoor pools are open Monday for the last day of the season. Pre-registration is required.

Hamilton municipal golf courses and outdoor pools will operate for normal hours on Monday.

Dundas Driving Park wading pool will be open during regular hours Monday.

Burlington's drop-in swimming and skating times vary over the long weekend. Outdoor pools are open on Monday for the last day of the season, weather permitting.

Ontario Works

The Ontario Works offices located at 1550 Upper James St. and 250 Main St. E. are closed on Monday. The Phone Queue Line 905-546-4800 will resume on Tuesday.

Libraries

All Hamilton-branch locations are closed on Sunday and Monday.

Burlington libraries are closed Monday.

Transportation

HSR and Burlington Transit schedules will operate according to Sunday/holiday service hours on Monday.

DARTS will operate on holiday service hours on Monday.

GO Transit is operating on a Sunday schedule on Monday.

Canada Post

Post offices are closed and there is no delivery Monday.

Public health
