Alpine Linux vs Slackware

I need a minimal operating system for the Linux containers. Somebody recommended using Alpine Linux but I don't know what Alpine can offer compared to minimal Slackware installation from custom tag files. Slackware can be hardened like any other Linux distros too. What's your opinion about Alpine Linux? Personally, I don't see anything special in Alpine.
