[SOLVED] Ubuntu not 'suspend'ing
by obobskivich from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5PANZ)
Ubuntu 20.04 LTS - trying to use 'Suspend' from GNOME and all I get is the machine dropping video out, fans stay on, lights stay on, power draw stays high, and nothing. Cannot get 'resume' from this state - must cut AC power and reboot or hold power button for 10s+ and then reboot. Unsure on any debugging steps - I've tried setting ACPI to S1 and S1+S3 in BIOS, makes no change. Any ideas for next steps to check?
UPDATE:
This may be a hardware issue - the machine will also power back on 'on its own' after sending 'shutdown' - it fully shuts down and then boots right back up. I think there's a short in the case wiring and will have to tear it all apart to troubleshoot. :banghead:
UPDATE 2:
This is likely a hardware issue - the board just seems to have trouble with shutdown/suspend/etc commands and isn't related to Ubuntu or GNOME itself best as I can figure.
