UPDATE: Hamilton Mountain townhouse scorched in Friday morning blaze

A townhouse on the Hamilton Mountain was significantly damaged in a multiple-alarm blaze Friday morning.
In a press release, Hamilton Fire Department Chief Dave Cunliffe said emergency services received a number of calls just after 8:30 a.m. for a structure fire at 525 Stone Church Road East, between Upper Wentworth Street and Ridgemont Drive.
Cunliffe said the first crews arriving at the scene reported heavy smoke and a well-involved" blaze on the first floor of a middle unit, two-storey townhouse. All occupants of the home had evacuated on their own, he added.
The fire was quickly upgraded to a multiple-alarm call and additional trucks were dispatched from across the city.
Cunliffe said crews initiated an aggressive interior" attack on the fire, which was quickly brought under control. The fire was contained to the unit, which suffered significant fire and smoke damage," he added.
A photo from the scene shows a home with damage, including melted siding, broken windows and charred framing.
Residents of the unit were assessed at the scene by Hamilton Paramedics, but no injuries were reported.
Cunliffe said the fire is believed to have started in the kitchen and the damage estimate has not yet been determined." Crews remained on scene Friday morning to put out hot spots.
