The Detroit Lions have lost Jeff Okudah for the remainder of the season after the cornerback suffered a ruptured Achilles during Sunday's loss to the San Francisco 49ers, head coach Dan Campbell told reporters Monday.

"I hate that for him. He put in a lot of hard work," Campbell said, according to Chris Burke of The Athletic. "He really improved a ton from spring until now."

Okudah was limited to just nine games as a rookie due to hamstring, shoulder, and groin injuries. He's now appeared in only 10 contests while making 51 tackles and one interception over his first two campaigns.

The Lions will need to rely on Amani Oruwariye, rookie Ifeatu Melifonwu, AJ Parker, Jerry Jacobs, and Bobby Price at corner.

Campbell said Melifonwu will be the next man up, and he anticipates the Lions will add another player to their secondary.

"That's coming, sooner rather than later," the coach said.

The Lions will face the Green Bay Packers' vaunted passing attack next Monday night.
