Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was carted to the locker room Sunday after suffering a rib injury on his second series versus the Buffalo Bills.

He was temporarily diagnosed with bruised ribs, as X-rays came back negative, reports NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. He'll undergo an MRI on Monday.

Tagovailoa took three big hits over the opening two drives and struggled to get up following the third one. He labored to the sideline after several moments and was eventually motored off the field.

Tagovailoa, whose injury history dating back to his days at Alabama has been well documented, led the Dolphins to victory in Week 1 against the New England Patriots. The former Heisman Trophy finalist threw for 202 yards with a touchdown against an interception in the season opener, and added a rushing touchdown.

As a rookie in 2020, the 23-year-old passed for 1,814 yards with 11 touchdowns and five interceptions over 10 appearances.

Jacoby Brissett relieved Tagovailoa against the Bills.
