Tagovailoa day-to-day with rib injury, could play Week 3
Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is considered day-to-day with a rib injury, head coach Brian Flores said Monday, according to Hal Habib of the Palm Beach Post.
The sophomore passer left Sunday's loss to the Buffalo Bills in the first quarter while trailing 7-0 and did not return.
Tagovailoa is still in a lot of pain and will undergo more tests, Flores said. However, his X-rays came back negative and he avoided any additional injury or cartilage damage, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports. If he's available, Tagovailoa will play in Week 3 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
"If Tua can go, he's gonna go. That's the kind of kid he is," Flores said, per ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques.
He was 1-for-4 for 13 yards in his two drives against Buffalo. Backup Jacoby Brissett finished the game, going 24-for-40 for 169 yards and an interception in the 35-0 defeat.
Tagovailoa was 16 of 27 for 202 yards, a score, and an interception in a 17-16 win over the New England Patriots in Week 1.
