Do I have to perform the full installation?

Hey guys! I have a question. Do I really to do a full Slackware installation? In the base system, there's a lot of applications that I won't probably need. I assume the full Slackware installation is for meeting all dependencies, but if Slackware forces me to manually manage dependencies then it also allows me to install needed in future stuff with its dependencies. I read officially supported is full installation but I think can perform tests in the virtual machines or LXC containers with the full slack installation. I'm going to compile packages in the virtual machine with full slack installation and then install them on the host and on the other computers using slackpkg+.
