'No access': Major Oakville closure to impact QEW and Highway 403 traffic
Ontario's Ministry of Transportation is warning drivers Thursday (Sept. 23) about a major closure on the QEW in Oakville.
The closure will see the Toronto off-ramp from the eastbound QEW to the eastbound Highway 403 near the Ford plant "fully closed" from 10 p.m. on Sept. 24 to 10 a.m. on Sept. 25.
There will be "no access" to Highway 403 eastbound or Ford Drive from the Toronto-bound QEW, the Ministry said.
Access to Highway 403 eastbound will be available via a signed detour route.
This is all part of the highway construction in the area.
A Ministry of Transportation spokesperson said in an email several months ago the current traffic configuration at the QEW and Ford Drive is temporary and is part of an ongoing construction project that is slated to be completed this fall.
"The project involves the rehabilitation and replacement of a number of bridges along the QEW/403 interchange from Winston Churchill Boulevard to Royal Windsor Drive. Construction began in June 2018 and completion is scheduled for Fall 2021," Fenn said.
