How Do I Mount A New Partition Created With GParted On My Laptop
by sbrown1038 from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5PZMV)
When I installed Linux Mint to make my Lenovo laptop dual boot (Linux/Windows), the automatic install made the '/' partition way too small (13.16GB). In Windows, I 'shrunk' the Windows partition to make unallocated space for Linux. My idea is to move '/home' to this new partition.
I booted into Linux and created a partition from the unallocated space. I labeled it '/home_new'. The problem is, I cannot figure out how to mount the new partition. 'Mount' is grayed out in GParted and when I try to mount it at the command line, it says mount point /home_new does not exist.
How do I mount the new partition? Once mounted, I would hopefully copy my /home files to /home_new, delete /home and rename /home_new to /home. Is this the best approach for what I'm trying to accomplish?
Any assistance would be truly appreciated.
Best regards,
Steve
