md5sum error not stopped by slackpkg
by Sasquatch44 from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5Q54V)
I updated my Slackware 15 box yesterday with
slackpkg update
slackpkg upgrade-all
At the end, I got
WARNING WARNING
One or more errors occurred while slackpkg was running:
NetworkManager-1.32.12-x86_64-1.txz: md5sum
mozilla-thunderbird-91.1.2-x86_64-1.txz: md5sum
vala-0.54.1-x86_64-1.txz: md5sum
While this is somewhat concerning in itself, what really bothered me was that when I scrolled back to check, slackpkg had gone ahead and installed these packages. That doesn't seem like a safe thing to do. I think it should have checked the md5sum and then declined to install any packages that don't pass the check.
Or is there another reason for it to go ahead with the install?
