Company officials led a tour of the new DHL Express Canada Hamilton Gateway Hub in Mount Hope Tuesday.
The cargo giant's sorting facility at 65 East Cargo Rd. at the John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport is the company's largest in Canada, and one of four with a fully-automated system in North America.
The plant, which employs almost 400 people, can process 28,000 packages an hour. It has 238,000 square feet of warehouse space, 1.75 kilometres of conveyor belts and six electric forklifts.
DHL Express moved to Hamilton in 2008.
The plant expansion has been four years in the planning, and represents a $100-million investment.
