Report: Buccaneers set to start Sherman vs. Patriots
Richard Sherman is set to be put into action just days after signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The veteran cornerback is expected to start Sunday night's contest against the New England Patriots, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Head coach Bruce Arians confirmed Friday that Sherman would be active for the game, though he was noncommittal about the amount of playing time the corner would receive.
Injuries to the Buccaneers' secondary likely boosted the 33-year-old into the starting lineup. Jamel Dean was ruled out after missing the entire week of practice with a knee injury.
Lining up against Sherman will likely be Jakobi Meyers or Nelson Agholor. Meyers leads the Patriots with 176 receiving yards, while Agholor has contributed 110 yards.
Sunday night's highly anticipated game will be the first time Tom Brady returns to New England since he left the organization in 2020. Brady won't have tight end Rob Gronkowski at his disposal, as the tight end was ruled out due to a ribs injury.
