Is Efi shell = linux?

I'm a newbie in Linux. I bought a new laptop Acer with so called None(Boot only) operating system preinstalled on it.
That's Efi shell version 2.7.
At first glanse Efi shell looks like Terminal Linux(Text Linux) bacause of spec word SHELL and it is very similar to it.
Digging throughout the internet I have found that Efi Shell is tiny OS but no information about what kind of OS is it.
So I want to know is Efi Shell -- Linux(or has some kind of Linux kernel) or this OS has no concern with Linux?
