Hamilton police charge man after assault on Westdale trail

Hamilton police charged a man from Hamilton following an assault on Caleb's Walk trail in the area of Dalewood Crescent and Oak Knoll Drive in Hamilton's west end last week.

Last week, police said a female victim was walking through a heavily wooded area on the path when an unknown man assaulted her. Police did not provide any additional details of the assault, but thanked the public for helping to identify the person responsible for the random attack" in a release.

A 28-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm, four counts of failure to comply with probation and drug possession.

Investigators are asking residents in the area to review their video surveillance for suspicious behaviour on Sept. 30 between 3 and 5 p.m., if they haven't already done so. If there is footage that may assist the investigation, residents are asked to contact Hamilton police acting Det. Sgt. John Obrovac at 905-546-3833.
