Las Vegas Raiders rookie Alex Leatherwood practiced at right guard Thursday after struggling at right tackle throughout his first four games.

Leatherwood has been victimized in pass protection early and often so far this season. He also took multiple penalties in three of four contests.

"We're still looking at trying different ways to get our best five guys on the field ... So, just trying to find that combination," offensive coordinator Greg Olson said.

Las Vegas drafted Leatherwood 17th overall in April. The Alabama product was projected to go in the second round, making his early selection a surprise.

Leatherwood played his sophomore season with the Crimson Tide at right guard. He moved to left tackle for his final two campaigns and earned an All-American selection as a senior.

"Not everyone can move inside, but he is one of our tackles that can move inside," Olson said of Leatherwood. "So, again, just experimenting."

The Raiders have struggled to protect Derek Carr in the pocket, even though they rank near the top of the league in passing offense and total yards. With Leatherwood working inside, the Raiders gave Brandon Parker first-team reps at right tackle.

Las Vegas is gearing up to face the Chicago Bears, who lead the NFL in sacks, in Week 5.
