The New York Islanders inked defenseman Ryan Pulock to an eight-year contract extension carrying an average annual value of $6.15 million, reports The Athletic's Arthur Staple. The pact doesn't include any signing bonuses, Staple adds.

It features a full no-trade clause in the first five years and a limited one over the final three, according to TSN's Darren Dreger.

Pulock was a pending unrestricted free agent. He's in the final season of a two-year pact carrying a $5-million cap hit, according to CapFriendly.

The 27-year-old plays on the Islanders' top pairing alongside Adam Pelech; New York signed Pelech to an eight-year extension with a $5.75-million average annual value in August.

Pulock - who's known more as a shutdown defender than for his offense - posted two goals and 15 assists while averaging a career-high 22:27 of ice time and playing all 56 games last season. He's in his seventh campaign with the Islanders, who drafted him 15th overall in 2013.
