McCaffrey out 3 more weeks after landing on IR
The Carolina Panthers placed running back Christian McCaffrey on injured reserve Saturday, forcing him to miss at least three more weeks with a hamstring injury.
McCaffrey last played in Week 3 when the hamstring ailment knocked him out of Thursday Night Football against the Houston Texans. The 25-year-old resumed practicing on a limited basis on Oct. 6, but a pair of missed practices to close out Week 6 suggested a possible setback.
The Panthers are 0-2 this season without McCaffrey, who will sit out contests against the Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, and Atlanta Falcons before becoming eligible to return.
Carolina rookie Chuba Hubbard has led the backfield in McCaffrey's absence, rushing for 158 yards on 37 carries across two starts.
McCaffrey, who posted over 1,000 yards rushing and receiving in 2019 en route to an All-Pro selection, has missed all but six games since the start of 2020 due to injuries.
