New Hope Community Bikes held their annual fundraiser Saturday at Fifty Road Mountain Access.

About 76 cyclists climbed the escarpment over and over again" for an Everesting challenge," said New Hope executive director Andrew Hibma. Some of them were attempting to ride the height of Mount Everest - 8,848 metres - solo, while others were tackling that height in teams.

The goal was to raise $30,000, funds to help the cycle education charity bring bikes to kids across Ontario and to fund the do-it-yourself shop space in Hamilton.

New Hope, which formed in 2008, seeks to get more people riding on affordable, reliable bikes. Their shop space and bike shop is located at 1249 Main St. E.
