Clock appearance changes randomly in 14.2

Using Slackware 14.2, KDE 4.14.38. Randomly at some points of time the appearance of digital clock at the bottom changes to different font and shows the city of my location:

But then when I click upon digital clock settings and click "ok" in the menu, not touching anything, the clock is reverted to the format I have chosen:

What is it? How to fix?
