Thunderbird
by AlaricWood from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5R1K1)
I have a custom built PC running on a Gigabyte motherboard with an i7 intel chip, 8 gb ram and 2 tb hard disks. Self test on both shows them as OK
I recently installed Debian 11 though it was extremely difficult and took 2 or 3 days. The Debian website offers an .iso file and the book of words says that if you burn it to a dvd and boot from that the screen will show an installation menu. It doesn't. I had to try 3 0r 4 downloads before it would install.
The installation installed Thunderbird but there is no address book and importing an address book on a .csv file says it has been imported but it doesn't appear on the thunderbird image on the screen and there doesn't appear to be any way of importing it by copying it by shift insert.
I have used Debian and Thunderbird for at least 20 years but version 11 has some very odd features and stores things in very odd places.
I am reluctant to change distros or email programmes but unless I can find a solution I may have to
Any suggestions? The Debian web site has been changed. It used to be plain and worked without trouble. It has now joined the great majority. It looks good but doesn't work
Regards,
Alaric
