Linux Mint 20.2 system question
by dirt.napp from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5R3FW)
Hello all and thanks for letting a old guy ike me in...lol...so I been trying to get my system up and going since i was hacked by my neighbor....I pulled jumper on motherboard and reset cmos and admin password but it failed to reset login pw...so heres what i know...he put a file in bootloader or before it...i know this as i changed boot order in bios to usb boot so i could wipe with a bootable and have a fresh OS, but it always boots mint. also I clear tpm and security keys still boot right to mint and no cleared password...it fluctuates between gnu grub 2.01 and 2.04.. Keep in mind this is a brand newHP m01 F0xxx which he wiped and put my first linux on for me before i knew he was one that was hacking me...been going on four years..i been trying to figure grub out but becausethe two have different commands i just cant get it...but I know with the right commands the password can be cleared ...now i know the files he put in there will still be there but was hoping not...lol..but they will...so there in lies the next issue is to locate them and extract or change boot order of file system to not boot his directions first and my usb first....but im not sure there even working as they wont charge anything when tower is on, which he may have disabled in case i got that far...lol... so ill post as screen shot of my file systems from system test to see if it tells yall anything as i dont understand how to inturpret it. Thanks in advance....Dirt
