User password retrieval from start up?
by flowergreen from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5R4RA)
I have a laptop with an older version of Cinnamon.
I can power on with the Administrator password but when it comes to the user that is setup I can't remember the login password for the user!
Is there any way that I can power on the laptop and access the terminal to retrieve the user password without completing the login for the user?
I have tried F10 when I power the laptop but Utility setup doesn't seem to give me a terminal access option.
Also, if I can access the terminal I don't know what code would provide the user password information?
If I can't retrieve the password, can I access the terminal from power on and create a new user instead? i didn't setup the existing user however usually I do remember the user password but I havent used this laptop for awhile.
Thanks for any help:)
