Who was responsible for wireless keyboard "technology"?

The person that designed wireless keyboards must have been pulled from a "special" class.
There is no way I can think of that a wireless keyboard should send endlessly repeating keys when you press a button once. There is no way an intelligent person could be behind something like this. At most it should miss a key, never endlessly repeat, again unless the people behind it have comprehension issues.
The 2.4 ghz wireless technology, as we all know, has pretty decent range in theory. The worst wifi connections can go 20 feet or so. Yet wireless keyboards sometimes have a "range" less than 1 foot! Imagine how incompetent a company and the people behind it are to release something like this out the door.
Right now I have an absolute garbage "Gyration" air keyboard and mouse on my HTPC. There is no competing alternative for an all-in-one air/optical mouse and wireless keyboard or I would have bought one already.
Every other wireless keyboard and mouse I have used have done the same thing. Even with Logitech this happens.
I have to admit that I have lower expectations than most people for wifi also. It has never worked reliably for me either and all my computers are ethernet or cellular connected. I don't even have a wireless access point.
Having to bang on a broken keyboard for 10 minutes just to type three lines has ruined my morning as you can see.
