Report: Eagles fail to move Cox despite aggressively seeking trade
Fletcher Cox isn't going anywhere this season.
The Pro Bowl defensive tackle will remain with the Philadelphia Eagles despite the team aggressively trying to trade him prior to Tuesday's deadline, sources told Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Philadelphia was seeking at least a second- or third-round pick in exchange for Cox, according to Mike Kaye of NJ.com.
Cox, who reportedly generated trade interest from multiple teams recently, shared a message to Eagles fans on Instagram minutes before the deadline passed.

Among the obstacles that reportedly complicated a potential trade was Cox's contract, which was restructured in September to free up cap space. The defensive tackle has dead-money hits of $11.84 million in 2021, $12.83 million in 2022, and $11.18 million in 2023 if traded or cut before 2024, according to Over The Cap.
Cox has been an integral part of Philadelphia's defense since being drafted 12th overall in 2012, notching 55.5 sacks through 148 regular-season appearances. The six-time Pro Bowler has 12 tackles and one sack for the 3-5 Eagles this season.
