[SOLVED] Had 2 monitors, now 1 and can't see Plasma/my desktop
by meatbar from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5RKQ5)
I had 2 monitors, 1 broke down, so I had to remove it, and now when I start debian all I see is a black screen, and the mouse cursor, most of the time I can move it, but from the times I've tried to do something, once or twice it was frozen. The strange thing is that when I press the power button to shut down the PC, I can see the desktop for a few seconds.
Ctrl + Alt + Del does nothing.
Ctrl + Alt + F1 Takes me to a CLI, but "startx" starts Xfce and the main screen was black (this was actually the case even before the other monitor broke down). The command to start plasma returns an error, I don't remember the error, but this too happened before the monitor broke down and Plasma worked just fine.
My specs:
Debian 10 x64 (latest kernel and everything up to date)
Ryzen 5 2600
Gigabyte B450M DS3H-CF
Nvidia GTX 660
I have used the nvidia driver for almost 2 years now, the nouveau would freeze the screen almost immediately.
