Raiders to sign DeSean Jackson

The Las Vegas Raiders are signing wide receiver DeSean Jackson, he told NFL reporter Josina Anderson.

The three-time Pro Bowl wideout was released by the Los Angeles Rams on Tuesday after the club failed to deal him ahead of the NFL's trade deadline.

Jackson went unclaimed on waivers and subsequently became a free agent.

The California native will likely serve as a replacement for former Raider Henry Ruggs III, who was released this week after he was charged in connection with a fatal car crash.

Jackson struggled to carve out a consistent role within the Rams offense after signing with the club in the offseason. He recorded eight receptions for 221 yards and one touchdown in seven games.

The Raiders would be the 34-year-old's fifth NFL team following stints with the Rams, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Football Team, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Jackson is currently 38th on the NFL's all-time receiving yards list with 10,877, according to Pro Football Reference.

Known for his top-end speed and ability to get behind defenses, Jackson provides a veteran presence for a receiver corps that features Hunter Renfrow, Bryan Edwards, and Zay Jones.
