Report: Packers fined $300K for COVID violations, Rodgers fined $14K
The NFL fined the Green Bay Packers $300,000 for violating the league's COVID-19 protocols, while quarterback Aaron Rodgers and wide receiver Allen Lazard were fined $14,650 each, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.
The league reportedly punished Rodgers and Lazard for attending a maskless Halloween party. The Packers didn't sanction the event, but the NFL determined the club should have penalized both players, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
Rodgers and Lazard also had a few instances when they weren't wearing masks inside the facility, added Garafolo. The league reportedly found Green Bay was otherwise compliant with protocols.
The Packers were told that future protocol violations could result in increased discipline, such as the loss of draft choices or change in draft-pick position.
Rodgers missed Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs after testing positive for COVID-19. The reigning NFL MVP implied in August that he received his vaccination, saying he was "immunized" when asked if he'd gotten a shot.
The quarterback said Tuesday that he takes "full responsibility" for misleading people about his status, but he stood by his remarks criticizing the league's protocols for unvaccinated players.
Rodgers is eligible to return to the Packers on Saturday if he remains asymptomatic. The signal-caller said he expects to play Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.
Lazard, who is also unvaccinated, missed Week 8 after being deemed a close contact to wide receiver Davante Adams.
