How to remove a persistent orphan window from my desktop
by will_kranz from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5RSDE)
I'm running a stock Slackware 14.2 system in Xwindows. I somehow generated a window that appears to be part of a Notes editing session. I comes back after a shutdown and reboot so its in the system somehow. I've used Slackware Linux for years, but am by no means an expert, normally it just works.
I suspect I was running the kate editor and pressed some odd key combination, but really have no idea. I can not see any process that looks like the owner of this windows when I run 'ps aux' at console level although there are a lot of things running when Xwin is up.
The disturbing thing is that researching this I find that pressing the key combination 'ALT-TAB' while running X gives me a list of open windows. I was hoping to remove it this way, but its not listed. Any suggestions on how to close it? It has a few options available that respond, but none allows me to close it.
